FUNCTIONS OF DTE

Roles: Directorate of Technical Education:

  1. To administer the Government (and Government Aided) Polytechnics and Technical Institutes in the State.
  2. To impart Technical Education across the State.
  3. To supervise and direct the implementation of all schemes for expansion and improvement in the institutions.
  4. To initiate proposals for expansion and improvement of Technical Education and Training at all levels for the consideration by the Board (SCTE) and to supervise and direct the implementation of all recommendations made by the Board and accepted by the Government.
  5. To maintain liaison between the Department and AICTE
  6. To maintain liaison between the Department and COA
  7. To maintain liaison between the Department and concerned statutory bodies for professional Education

Roles: Polytechnics/Technical Institutes

  1. To provide state of the art technological education
  2. To implement the best possible Technical education given to teachers and students
  3. To reform the syllabi to suit the needs of the industries and community
  4. To impart skill trainings to students and community
